BUILD Program
If you’re a Risk Management patient and have type 2 diabetes, you don’t have to battle it alone. The BUILD program is an excellent resource for your diabetes management, whether you are newly diagnosed or have known about your disease for years.
The Better Understanding for Individuals Living with Diabetes (BUILD) program, created by the Living Whole Employee Wellness Program in the Department of Risk Management, represents a partnership among the following organizations:
- Department of Risk Management
- Department of Family Medicine
- Center for Health Promotion
- Diabetes Treatment Center
- Drayson Center
BUILD Frequently Asked Questions
The program brings together professionals who are trained to treat diabetes, as well as help you manage your lifestyle through nutrition, exercise, and other important tools.
All you need to do is visit a BUILD physician four times and attend a diabetes education program within a 12-month period. If you complete the requirements, you ultimately receive all of your BUILD services for free. Risk Management will reimburse all of your BUILD visits, your BUILD educational program, medications for your type 2 diabetes, and other diabetes management equipment.
Please note: The BUILD program does not reimburse for expenses already reimbursed by a Medical Flexible Spending Account. Employees must be benefit-eligible for the entire 12 months they are part of the BUILD program.
